Nintendo Retrolink USB Super SNES Classic Controller Reviews

However, I think this controller is fine. I've played some Super Smash TV with it so far and the buttons seem responsive and not too "mushy" as the previous reviewer stated. I am just as bad at Super smash TV as I remember with my parents SNES. It is very lightweight and a little hollow compared to the original, but it doesn't feel like it is going to break in my hands. I have two controllers, but one of them has a bit of a "mushy" start button, but given that it is the start button, I really don't care much about it sticking every once in a while. Since I just received this product, I will leave a comment attached to this review if I change my mind and it breaks or something.EDITED 10/09/2009 Controllers are still holding strong, even after playing many games of Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball and then getting angry and hitting my cheater of a boyfriend...Anyhow, I use them a couple times a week, and I am not super gentle with... I wish I could say it was worth it but honestly I'd much rather be rolling in DCB's (double cheeseburgers) right now. The first thing that struck me was just how light it feels. Unlike a DCB which, along with being warm and comforting like an old friend or a grand parent, has a wonderful weight to it, the controller feels exactly like all other really poorly made electronics feel. The controller worked fine for me for about 2 days before the d pad started squeaking and had to be pressed down very, very firmly before it would move mario or dk or joe or mac or ryu or link or virtual bart slightly to the right. It's astonishing to me that something of such high quality, like a warm, delicious McDonald's Double Cheeseburger (or a McChicken if I'm feeling... First? USB. Your favorite general-use standard cable. No need for boxy adaptors or messy custom wiring. Second? Plug and play! Your favorite kind of device! No searching for drivers, no installation of drivers, no maintenance of drivers. In the box are 2 things -- a plastic frame that holds the controller, and the controller itself. No messy un-boxing, no extra papers, none of that. Everything except the controller is toss-able and forgettable. The controller is lighter than I remember SNES controllers being (though I think the size is the same). The plastic is smoother. It feels pretty solid. I think I could snap this thing in half between the SELECT and START buttons if I really wanted to -- but I'm certainly not going to do it accidentally. The D-Pad, and each and... Read more |
